Michelin-Starred chef Takuya Watanble launches Mayfair Sushi Restaurant

This month Mayfair’s Albemarle street welcomes Taku, an Omakase restaurant headed up by Chef Takuya Watanabe (Taku), formerly of Jin, the first sushi omakase in Paris to receive a Michelin star.

Taku held 1* at Jin Paris for consecutive 10 years and now brings the most traditional form of sushi making, to London. ‘edomai’ sushi style – developed by street sellers in old Edo, now Tokyo – a method in which fresh fish is cured in vinegar to bring out umami flavours.

This 16-cover restaurant will highlight the best ingredients that the British Isles has to offer in a traditional yet modern omakase setting. The three-tasting menu will be based on seasonal produce and daily catches with fine and rare wines, champagnes and speciality sakes.

Dinners should expect a fully interactive dining experience with the chefs whilst enjoying the theatre of the kitchen and the creation of each plate.
