Dining: The Il Giardino pop-up terrace at The Berkeley

La dolce vita comes to The Berkeley as The Garden is transformed once again, this season into Il Giardino. Celebrating Italian cooking and cuisine, this intimate and informal alfresco restaurant will be covered with a canopy of foliage and lined with fragrant herb plants and olive trees.

The menu

While candles flicker and festoon lights twinkle, guests will be welcomed with a relaxed menu accompanied by a list of Mediterranean wines and Italian-inspired aperitivos crafted by The Berkeley Bar team.

Small plates will include assorted bruschetta, burratina and fritto misto. Rigatoncini cacio e pepe and tagliolini with Bronte pistachio pesto will be the standout pasta dishes, finished tableside by the team decked out in navy chinos and Grenson sneakers. Caponata gives a nod to Sicily, served with roasted wild seabass while Fiorentina steak is a staple of Tuscan cooking.

For dolce, think apricot crostata with amaretto ice cream and tiramisu served alongside gelato cones of Amalfi lemon and pastel peach sorbets.
